On the trail...

We were first assigned to write a paper on an election of our choice to learn more about the evolution of the presidential nominating process. Naturally, I choose the most important... the Election of 1800, Adams v. Jefferson.  ( An ardent fascination with our Founding Fathers and the Constitution pays off. )

To track our experiences we are supposed to keep journals.  So out came the glitter, stickers and glue sticks.....

Not only do we write papers on elections, keep journals and blogs, and attend campaign events, we also get to speak with experts in the field.  February 14, Dr. JSM had the class skype with Professor David P. Redlawsk, author of the book Why Iowa: How Caucuses and Sequential Elections Improve the Presidential Nominating Process.

The class was well read on the topic as we had already been assigned to read the book. Professor Redlawsk summarized his book and answered questions from the class.  Here, fellow classmate Mr. Brockmeier asked about the different rules between the Parties and how they impact the outcomes.

Once the Florida Primary ended, I wasn't sure how involved we would be.  Fortunately, things haven't come to a complete halt.  I was contacted by the party to attend the Arizona Debate watch party at the Fat Cat Tavern in Clearwater.  It seemed like a great night for Romney as the last four remain.

It was a great debate to watch with fellow interns.
Hopefully we'll have more soon... Super Tuesday is on its way!!!
